We were Scientists in Room 3 & 4

We went to Room 3 on Friday to look at making sounds using bottles and straws.Would we be able to make noise blowing across the top of the bottle? We wondered what it would be like with different amounts of water in the bottles???

Miss Hutchings showed us how it was done. She filled the bottles with water to different heights and then she blew into them. I wonder why they sounded different?

Then we got some straws all different lengths and we were wondering what they would sound like when we blew into those? Would they make different sounds? We got to take the straw pipes home to share with our families.

After being Scientists in Room 3, we went to Room 4 to talk about a big word called "Velocity". Mrs Irwin gave us a toy car, a marble and a track. We had to see which went the furtherest and then we had to make a high ramp.Did it make the marble and car go faster? What happened?

Will these ramps make our cars move?

What will happen when we make a higher ramp?


We had a great time being Scientists in Team 1. We have lots of questions on our walls and now we may be able to answer them after doing our "experiments".

We are Scientists

On Friday, we had Discovery Day. This time we were all Scientists and we were asking some great questions. In Room 1 we were doing kitchen science experiments. We were mixing baking soda and vinegar and making gas. We found that the gas blew up a balloon that was attached to a beaker and it also  made our ice blocks explode.

Mrs Heald is pouring vinegar on the iceblocks. It was great watching them explode. I wonder why that happened?

Then we put some tempera paint in a plastic bag, poured some vinegar into the bag and sealed it. Then we watched as the bag expanded and grew tighter and tighter. It was so exciting.

Library Time with our Friends from Room 16

On Friday afternoon, the big kids come and help us with the weekly scavenger hunt in our library, then they help us choose a picture book to take home to share with our families. They also read to us. We are so lucky to have our big friends.

Lily is helping Miley choose a picture book.

Hannah is reading a picture book to Annabelle. Annabelle really liked Hannah reading to her and hopes she will do it again.

Grace loved reading this story to TK and he really enjoyed listening. He asked Grace some good questions while she was reading it.
