What a great Education Outside The Classroom Discovery Day

Our excellent Outdoor Education Discovery Day.
"Are the elves in there Mr Koeck?"
Don't drop that egg!
"I hope my hat stays on !"
We are searching for outdoor treasures.
"Gosh this is hard Mrs Irwin. Please show us how to do it!"
"Look I can balance my egg!"
"Here we go Mr Koeck - left, right..."
Here is our plan for the treasures we had to find in the forest.
Wow, did we have fun on Friday. All of Team 1 headed up to the top field to do some excellent learning on our EOTC Discovery Day. We had some very kind helpers including Kyan's Mum, Dani's Grandmother and Mrs Barker.
Mr Koeck had done heaps to help us too. He took all of our equipment up on his trailer - he even removed some of Mrs Bones resources to build her shelters, he is very efficient!
We had 4 activities to do until morning tea. Mrs Bone's groups built shelters from materials found in the environment. Mrs Irwin had an obstacle course that was quite tricky - even Mr Snell tried it out! Miss Hutchings was down at the creek with an activity called "Pooh Sticks" after Winnie the Pooh. We raced each others sticks down the creek. That was such fun. Lucky Miss Hutchings had her gumboots on. And Mrs E had us doing a "Playground Housie" activity in teams where we had to find certain objects in the environment and be first to place them on our cards.
We were very careful to care for our environment and not disturb anything, especially any new plantings of natives that Mr Koeck has done.
We even found a secret door where the elves live. After morning tea we had more fun doing team sports like egg and spoon races, water balloon competitions. Mr Koeck built us some walkers that took 3 people to make them move. That was fun coordinating ourselves to see who could go the fastest. We are looking forward to using those a whole lot more.
The day was perfect, we were all sunsmart and wore our sunhats and we discovered lots in our excellent top field environment. We finished the morning off with a sausage sizzle that Mrs Clark and the other adults prepared for us.

Our Assembly Item

We performed 2 songs at assembly today. The first song was "We are trying to be Sunsmart" and the second song was "Walking on Sunshine". Shayla introduced our items and we really enjoyed performing them.
We have got a brand new big screen in the assembly hall now. It is huge and it comes down so we can see our songs better and also Mr Snell shows us inspiring video's . We watched a man with no arms or legs today and he was amazing. There was nothing that he wouldn't attempt to do. He played golf and soccer and even went fishing. He likes talking to children in schools to let them know they are all beautiful and can achieve any dream they like if they try hard.

Fun at our Sun Smart Dyslexia Discovery Day 14-3-14

Wow we had such a great day trying out our creativity today. In Room 4 we were working with Dyslexia clay creating suns. Isn't Ashleigh clever?
In Room 3 we made Squishy Suns using balloons filled with flour. Then we decorated them. How about this? Great sun Charlotte!
In Room 2 we made sunny day pictures using black vivids and dyes. They were really colourful.
And in Room 1 we listened to the legend of Maui and the Sun, then we made a sun using sponges and paint. What a great morning.
What a special day for all of Team 1.

Our Visit to the Town Library

On Friday the 7th of March, we went down to the Town Library with Room 4. Nikki read us a funny book about teachers. then we were allowed to look at the picture books. If we have a Town Library card we can issue a book to take home. That is really neat as we can be just like our parents. We love our visits to the town library. And we can practise our road safety as we walk down in our high visibility vests. We go on the first Friday of every month.

Team 1 and 2 Friday Sports

We have just had a great time doing team sports with all of our friends in Team 1 & 2. We did Jump Jam, ropes, Rob the Nest, relays and ball skills. We had fun and the day was just beautiful. It was so hot we had to get a drink at the end of sports. All of our friends in Team 2 helped us little ones in Team 1. What a great afternoon.

Welcome to 2014

Today we saw a show called "Rez comes to earth." Rez had to be taught how to play with everyone and to include everyone in her games so no-one felt left out. That's called "inclusion." Rez met Jessie and became her friend and taught Jessie how to stand up for herself and be persistent. Some of us got chosen to be part of the show. We are going to try and be inclusive in our school life too.
