Today (13th November) we began our swimming lessons to help us stay safe around water this summer. We have 3 tutors and we will go into 3 groups to learn new skills. Some of us can swim and some of us are learning to put our heads under. Here we are with out tutors.
We are very excited because we are going to have a triathlon to finish off our lessons. Mums and Dads can come and watch us. It will be fun. We finish the day with a free swim. :)

Team 1 and 2 Cross Country
We finally had our Cross Country today - even though it was a really cold day. We have been practising for 3 weeks now, so we are all very fit and keen to go. We started with the 5 year old girls and our Jenny came 2nd. Mrs E is really proud of all of us for trying our hardest. Poor Alex had a stubbed toe and he had stopped because his plaster came off. But then he took off and finished the course.
| The girls are off. They went really fast and everyone tried really hard. |
| Off go the boys. They had 20 weetbix each for breakfast, so they had lots of energy! This is Mrs Irwin's last ever Cross Country at South School. She is funny. We will miss her starting us off. |

We are Scientists
We are learning to be Scientists. We are learning the Scientific method in our Inquiry. We are asking lots of questions, especially "I wonder...." questions. We are using "The Scientific Method" - Asking a question, forming a hypothesis, testing it, gathering evidence and a conclusion.
We have done lots of different experiments, showing the water cycle, testing for dirty surfaces, blowing up balloons with a bottle, vinegar and baking soda, growing fresh and packet capsicum seeds and heaps more. We are discovering lots and asking interesting questions and doing research. One day maybe , we will be real Scientists.
